I'm curious about R' Shapira's letter. I'm trying to understand how it fits with his strong encouragement of the beating, which was publicized on television. Here he writes as though it has nothing to do with him. Can you shed light on this?
Daat Torah writes "I was told that the judge accepted Rav Shapiro's explanation of his words and the charges against him were dropped."
I do not know what Rav Shapira's words were that explained in what context he said what he said . In any case, Daat Torah says the judges accepted his explanation and the charges were dropped. Perhaps you could ask Daat Torah to elaborate on this.
